Entropy is a measure. It is a property of the universe. Just like time it flows in only one direction and causes things to be disordered. If something is disordered it is without a pattern, without a structure.
But isn't life about growth and the creation of structures? Isn't intelligence to a large part based on pattern recognition? Could it be that life is the opposite force to entropy - seeking out and creating patterns - attempting to create order amongst disorder?
